COFFEE + GIRLTALK (and pops of red)

Sometimes you just need a coffee, a hug and a little girlfriend time. It's rare that I'm alone these days without my best buddy (Hayden, if you're wondering!). I cherish every moment with the baby... especially when I'm away from him for a second to run to an audition then grab a cup of coffee like I did recently with Ali. I'm working again, so I've been busier than usual getting ready to film. More on that soon! But, that explains why I've been absent from here. What have you all been up to?

I needed to be a "chic, casual mom" for the audition.  So, I put on my red plaid blouse --so soft and comfortable! AND ON SALE FOR $29! The top feels and wears like a much more expensive shirt. The sizes are limited right now, but I'm told to check back as more sizes are being added. There's also THIS ONE from Rails that comes in several colors that I like a lot.  I paired the top with skinny boyfriend jeans and boots. I added some bangles and simple earrings, threw my hair up in a ponytail (which I do way too often!) and snuck out of the house.

Ali kept her look chic and sleek. Love the fresh, modern look she has going with her striped blouse against her black compression leggings. These leggings I've mentioned in a previous post HERE  and actually ordered a pair for myself. She's wearing her go-to over-the-knee boots and nameplate MOLLY necklace, too.  Maybe it's because Valentine's Day is around the corner, but I'm loving the pops of red, especially from Ali's purse (here's a very similar one she found for under $30).

Let me know your thoughts! I can't believe January is almost over! Hope 2017 is off to a great start for you all!

Body After Baby

I have to thank Soap Opera Digest for their latest interview where Mara Levinsky got me talking about body after baby (on stands now- with a blurb on the cover!). I haven't written much about this topic because in no way do I feel like an expert. However, I think it's good to talk about the reality of life and getting in shape after having a baby. Or the reality of what it takes to get in better shape for anyone: discipline and work. The article goes in depth about the things that I didn't expect, the struggles and the joys of postparatum. Let me know what you think!

This photoshoot was two weeks after giving birth, right before I went back to shoot GENERAL HOSPITAL. I was EXHAUSTED and emotional and elated simultaneously.

I took long walks several times a week and kept as active as my energy level allowed during the pregnancy, trying not to gain unnecessary weight. Hayden got fairly big toward the end (I wrote this post after the baby shower, and this post was three days before I gave birth). I admit, I was lucky I initially lost some of the pounds I gained, but it started to creep back. I had to eat more to keep breastfeeding and wasn't working out enough. The struggle to get back in the same shape I was in pre-pregnancy has been real for me. I haven't done it yet, as I discuss in the article. My body looks different. One of the biggest struggles has been learning to accept myself for where I am in life today. A reader (thank you Cara Sue!) left a comment in another post about resolutions for 2017. She simply said she wanted to have "more self care." I love this because it encompasses more than just vanity; it's a whole lifestyle practice mentally, emotionally and physically. My priority now is my baby and my family. This used to sound like an excuse to me when other people said it, and it is to an extent, but it's simply the truth. Do you feel like you have time to workout? I don't want to be that person with excuses! My husband reminds me it's all about prioritizing the day, making smart choices.

AshleyAJones.com

So, I am trying to look at this as an opportunity to adjust to a new lifestyle! I strap the baby on and go hiking or walking. I use my Joovy jogger to jog if I'm not too tired. I have grand plans to escape to yoga, but my membership doesn't get as much use as it used to. So, I go when I can. Some days I feel like I'm running around in circles not being as productive as I'd like. I have to let my preconceived expectations of the day go as I step over full laundry baskets and Huck's toys. I have a feeling some of you can relate?

I try to stay well so I have energy by implementing super simple tips I learned from Dr. Oz! I have to say, my whole household has been sick, but I have not! I still take Proglucamune, the immunity supplement from Usana.  I promised myself I would drink two glasses of water with my supplements every morning. I'm proud I have made that a habit. My mom recently reminded me of a tip we both learned from Ronn Moss (from BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL) years ago... hot water with lemon first thing every morning to detoxify the body. I remember him drinking it during the day on set, too. He swears by this habit. Healthy (and free) habits are the best!

In order to make progress for tomorrow, I have to do something different today. Doing the same thing every day and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. So, I am making a list of easy, healthy habits to incorporate change in my life as part of my new year's resolutions. I'm going to force myself to try them--- wanna do it with me? Leave a comment of things you'd like to try. Drink more water? Vitamins? Less soda? Less sugar. Take more steps (literally walk more)? I'm thinking I'd like to start one habit at a time and build from there.

In the meantime, in honor of the Golden Globes tonight, I'm sharing my favorite tricks I've learned over the years from wardrobe, makeup and hair that have helped me during this transition period of body after baby.  Read them HERE!

LOOK THINNER TONIGHT!

EDITED UPDATE: I wrote this post four years ago, but these little vanity tips still stand the test of time. I might do an updated post soon, cause I’ve learned even more since then.

As we strive to be our best selves, healthier habits are obviously a part of that resolution. That’s wonderful and all, but what about being the best version of yourself IMMEDIATELY? Any shortcuts to look good TONIGHT? Like some of our favorite stars?

I read through the emails via the "contact" section of this site and found that many of ask about camera ready tips and makeup tutorials. On this Emmy Sunday, I started thinking back to events I've attended and what it took to get "red carpet" ready. Hint: it takes a lot for me sometimes;)

After years in makeup trailers, I've had time to pick up some smoke and mirror tricks on looking thinner and feeling more confident. I've also had great mentors in wardrobe and makeup departments that have taught me well. I thank them for all their assistance and patience! Here's my list:

1) WEAR SHAPEWEAR

If you've followed my blog at all, you've heard me discuss my love of "help" with compression undergarments in all stages of my life: pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, postpartum and today. These new discoveries in shapewear are not your grandmother's girdle (if you're too young to remember that word, sorry!). I love a smooth look (like this dress in the picture below). Another great tip is double stick tape to keep clothes in place. You can buy the fancy kind, or literally use double stick tape.

AshleyAJones.com

2) SMOOTH YOUR SKIN AND ADD COLOR

Blend in blemishes (veins, stretch marks, cellulite, brown spots) with a great DIY faux tan. A shade darker give the illusion of a leaner body. There's not a reason in the world to not have a little fun and look like you had a vacation (when you were really just binge watching tv!). And prep your face with a hydrating (or find the right one for you) mask prior to make up. I have been using AloisiaBeauty lately. Just ordered their deep hydration mist. And right now, just till TOMORROW, THEY HAVE TWO AMAZING GIVEAWAYS. Check out their instagram page and look for the post that says giveaway. They are giving away a ZIIP beauty (keep reading, I discuss this in further detail below).

Looking back at this HBO event I attended for TRUE BLOOD, I'm reminded how much a spray tan or a DIY bottle tan can help the overall look.

3) WEAR YOUR HAIR OFF YOUR FACE AND UP IN A PONY OR MESSY BUN

This helps take down the roundness in my face if I feel puffy. If you are having any hair loss postpartum, this is an excellent way to camouflage it! I went through a series phase of hair loss with Hayden. If you’re curious about other tips for this phase, lemme know. I also am looking into hair clips, pieces and would be happy to share. I don’t currently use them but want to!!

4) CONTOUR

Create cheek bones that may not actually be that prominent. Take what you have naturally and enhance it. Also, highlight the upper cheeks and tip of the nose (tiny bit, this can get over done very quickly). I also used the Ziip every morning on my last project before filming. It is like getting a lymphatic drainage face massage every morning. My sister said I looked pounds thinner than I did the week before. It’s not cheap, but I believe worth it if you are consistent. I found out about it from very close girlfriends that I trust. I linked it to revolve because they offer a 10% discount if you give your email, so that saves quite a bit!!

5) ELONGATE THE LEG WITH THE SAME SHADE SHOE AS YOUR SKIN COLOR

No matter what color your skin is, if your shoes match your skin tone, it elongates the leg. And perhaps the oldest trick in the book is to add inches with a higher heel. Do both and you've sufficiently tricked the eye and taken off some pounds. If you're looking for a designer heel without the designer prices, check out the RealReal

6) WEAR ALL ONE HUE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM

Wearing monochromatic colors is one of my favorite techniques to implement! Wearing one hue from top to bottom means you go shopping in your own closet, too! Put together some of your basic items...mix high end pieces with vintage or inexpensive trends and create a great outfit.

My savvy friend Ali recently blogged about an outfit and it wasn't until now that I realized it was nearly all monochromatic! Take a look at the post here . She also implemented my final idea....

7) DRAW ATTENTION TO A SPECIFIC AREA OF THE BODY

Ali wore a necklace that commanded attention, drawing the eye up to the neckline. Use this same technique by showing off your favorite part of your outfit or body. Wear a shorter dress if you love your calves or legs, or show off your shoulders with a sleeveless neckline and some statement earrings.

If you have your own ideas or have questions, we'd like to hear your comments! xoxo

TWINSIES in different colors ($37 PEACOAT?!) YES, PLEASE.

I met up with Ali Fedotowsky for coffee to help plan a little Bachelor get-together for tonight. (I know, how lucky am I to get to watch with a former bachelorette?!) Lo and behold, we were wearing the same jacket, just in different colors. I take this as a pretty big compliment because Ali has a fabulously approachable style. I've blogged about this jacket here  before (and the jacket sold out), but now that it's back in stock, it's worth mentioning again. I seriously get stopped about this jacket on the street. It's warm and cozy, but still looks sleek with it's clean lines and buttons. I like wearing it buttoned up, or open like Ali is wearing it (and don't you love her coat color? It also comes in black and hunter green).

We both kept our looks simple, but funny enough, both had on our namesake jewelry. My nameplate necklace says HAYDEN on it, and Ali's says MOLLY. Ali usually has a statement piece of jewelry on as well. Today, she is wearing a pretty fabulous necklace -- I might need to borrow this or just get my own here or here. And I wouldn't be a decent blogger if I didn't admit I've asked her several times about her leggings. Every single time, she's wearing these compression leggings. I have my own go-to leggings (that some of you now love, too!), but I might add these compression leggings to my wardrobe, also.

We both tied our looks together with comfy, easy boots. Ali is wearing over-the-knee boots that I know she enjoys wearing often. And in case we might have forgotten, my coffee mug reminds us that we are not regular moms, but totally cool moms;). Yeah, right. Maybe she is!

I didn't get a good photo of the fun, stackable bracelets I'm wearing today, so I pulled a photo from a previous post. My sister wears her "she believed she could, so she did" bracelet all the time. I love the reminder on my wrist to simply believe! And if you have a friend expecting, a great shower gift for a mom-to-be or a new mom (or a new bride!) is this custom "all because two people fell in love" bracelet from The Silver Loft

So, HAPPY NEW YEAR... and to those of you tuning in for The Bachelor, have fun. Check back tomorrow with some thoughts from our viewing party tonight. #momsnightout! Thanks, hubby! xoxo

HAPPY NEW YEAR! a little note of reflection and gratitude

These last few days have me reflecting on 2016. I know so many people want to rid 2016 goodbye forever and never look back. But, a great deal of good happened that fills me with hope and inspiration. It makes me want to work harder, contribute more, volunteer more.

For instance, I loved hearing that volunteers in India planted 50 million trees in 24 hours. The first solar powered plane circumnavigated the world. Strides were made in finding a treatment for ALS... the list of reasons to smile and have hope goes on.

Personally, my husband and I started a family. It's been the most rewarding journey of my life to become a mother and a step-mom. I've loved getting to share these moments with my own parents, friends and family. And speaking of friends, I'm blessed to go through this journey of parenthood with several of my best ones that also welcomed little angels this year.

It's also been wonderful to have this blog. I've thoroughly enjoyed getting the opportunity to have this outlet to share ideas on fashion, motherhood and work. Your support through this past year has meant the world to me. Thanks for following along my journey through pregnancy, my baby shower, the characters I've played this year for work (the GH fans are amazing!) and becoming a mother for the first time. I'm working on my list of resolutions for 2017 (I know, I better hurry!). I'd love to hear your thoughts on 2016 and your resolutions for the year ahead!

FOR HER- THE LAST MINUTE FUN, CHEEKY, WHIMSICAL & COZY GIFT GUIDE!

FUN, CHEEKY, COZY & WHIMSICAL.... I was up late last night shopping and decided to share some of my finds. There's still time to deliver FABULOUS presents before Christmas! And many of these items are still free shipping.  Prices start under $10 (please note not all prices are reflected accurately when you hoover over the image... some are discounted at checkout). Check out the soft beanies half price for $12! Or literally my favorite gift- the softest ever- new throw blanket  ($39) that comes in several colors. And for any of your expecting friends, the receiving maternity and nursing pjs that I posted about previously. At prices this great for some items, you could even throw in something for that one person that sometimes gets put on the back burner - YOU! (click on any of the images below for more details or to shop!)

GIVE THE GIFT OF WARMTH! Snugglicious options!

We're home this morning (now, it's already afternoon) doing some last minute cyber shopping for Christmas.  I swear every year I won't do this, but alas, here I am again. Life happens and time creeps up on us. And I have to give myself a break! Hayden and I are finding some pretty cool deals, though. I'll be posting the last minute gift guide very soon.

Let's start off with the girl friends in your life. (Or even just the perfect low-key Christmas outfit). The sweater I'm wearing above can still arrive before Christmas (free shipping) and is $27. I'm wearing an extra small, but would have been just as happy with it larger, too. It's so soft to throw on with leggings and boots and cuddle up in (read the reviews, you don't have to trust me)! Hayden fell asleep on me all nuzzled in my chest while I was wearing this yesterday. This one is fairly long (with side slits that I like) and not meant to be form fitting. This one can also be worn off the shoulder, too. (see pic below).

At this price, I'm fine letting the dogs cuddle up on me, too. I enjoy giving and getting cozy, affordable sweaters because girls love them! If they are oversized (like this one- that also comes in several other colors... I think I need the black one!)- that's even better. What girl doesn't love to snuggle up and watch the Bachelor in something so cozy?  The sweater I wore HERE in this post is now on sale for $23. I mean, really? There's also this black cross- back sweater for under $30 that I mentioned in the Black Friday post that I think would make a great gift.  Oh, and I just have to throw this in there in case anyone is a big fan of unicorns and wants this--- I did treat myself to this Unicorn Sleigh Tee to wear Christmas Eve;) - I also wore it to the Big Bang Theory Christmas party--- more on that soon!

Another fun option are planet wraps and throws. This one pictured below that I'm snuggling up with Hayden (and Amy and Lennox!) comes wrapped in leather straps (like a picnic blanket) but is ideal as an oversized poncho. (One disclaimer about this particular one... it is warm and it is beautiful and soft, but it sheds, at least this color does. There are other color options that may not).

And continuing on with the gift of warmth, I am giving this insanely soft throw as a gift this year to some girlfriends. (Shhhh- it's under $40). I love the color options, but mostly LOVE how soft it is. Scarfs are always a great gift to receive, too. This scarf that I have written about several times (and wear all the time) is now on sale for under $10. May be the best gift idea ever!

Hope this last weekend before Christmas is going so well! Keep calm and keep in touch:) ps- we have received comments and emails about gift suggestions for family members (like Hayden). Hoping to have it up this evening! Shop items mentioned in this post below!

The Perfectly Priced Peacoat

I know I may look like I'm not the happiest person here, but I'm actually pretty happy! Perhaps the holidays just have me lost in thought...I'm a people pleaser and can get overwhelmed? I'm trying to fit in a lot before the end of the year. Family and work keep us all so busy. Sometimes it's the little things we do for ourselves that perk us up. I LOVE this insanely affordable peacoat that just arrived in the mail. I know this item is selling out fast, but it does come in several fall/winter-y colors. Doesn't it look so much more expensive than $37!! I'm wearing a medium, just for reference. (And don't just take my word for it, take a glance at the 700plus reviews!). I'm into this slight military feel with it button all the way, but you can also wear it open or with the collar up for a completely different feel (see below).

These stackable, fun bracelets are such great gifts for your girlfriends or sister.  The Sojourn Bracelet set comes with five different bracelets, so you could easily split them up, too. And this cuff by Mantraband that reads SHE BELIEVED SHE COULD, SO SHE DID is inspiring and a perfect gift starting at $25! I enjoy cuffs because they fit every wrist. I have the smallest wrists ever, but I can easily bend it to stay on! And I have to give a shoutout to The Silver Loft for the sweet cuff reading ALL BECAUSE TWO PEOPLE FELL IN LOVE. They can custom make anything!

My First Christmas!

Sometimes I ask myself if it's silly to put Hayden in little "get-ups" like this in the photo above? (or like THIS one on SALE for under $20 I just ordered?) Am I too old to get excited about these little things? Then I look back at a picture and realize it was totally worth it! I will frame his "My First Christmas" onesie picture and have it out every year. He took these pictures right around his 6 month birthday. He was almost sitting up on his own. After looking at a few photos last night, I realized I wanted to share in case any of you all wanted to capture these same moments with the babies in your lives. This little gift under $25 is so adorable. It comes wrapped in a mason jar with a little party hat on top (see photo below). And my sweet mom sends him gifts all the time....he's having way too much fun with his rattle santa socks. It especially keeps him occupied when he's in his car seat and can kick his feet to hear the rattle sounds.

Thanks for following along on some of these posts. It's fun to get to share some special moments (like meeting Santa!). There's still time to grab some of these holiday picks for baby below----(I even just amazoned some Christmas baby books!) enjoy!

Secret Santa Workshop! #SSW16

AshleyAJones.com

Taking Hayden to this event for the first time was special for us. My dear friends at Marque Communications, Bill Horn and Scout Masterson, present this annual event benefiting LA Family Housing. It's the sixth year; I've attended almost every year. I came (way before I had my own family) with my godkids, aka Marisa Coughlan Wallack's kiddos. I would walk around the event wondering if I would ever get to bring my own child someday.  I've known Bill and Scout for the majority of my adult life.  I watched them get married (like many of you all did on the Tori Spelling's show) and start their family with Simone, then Boz.

Finally, last year, I attended with my own little family: Joel and Huck (and I was secretly pregnant with Hayden. I had just started taping General Hospital and we were keeping the baby quiet for the time being. So hard to believe that was a year ago). This year, I got to bring my son to the event! Of course, we wanted Huck with us, but he was with his mom and her family; part of the package with a blended family.

Thanks to all the amazing vendors that made this day so special!! I love seeing our friends from Ju Ju Be, Chatbooks, Ergo Baby, 4Moms, and Diono (amongst many others, too). And learning about new brands- like Foodstirs, Sarah Michelle Gellar's new monthly food baking delivery service. Oh, and Hayden met Santa for the first time!

I decided to go a bit dressier this year in red.  And I can blame it on the baby.  My solid red dress was inspired by Hayden's little outfit my mother sent him (I found a similar style HERE). But truly, wearing red made me feel more in the holiday spirit. This particular dress is genius for parties. First off, it has pockets! LOVE THAT. It's a great length for day or night, dressing up or down. I appreciate the A-line aspect that skims the body without being too terrible tight around the lower half. Oh, and it's on sale! Under $90.  For a sizing reference, I'm in a 4. It's slightly snug on top.  It comes in several colors, too! Take a look below--- plus, I added similar styles of Hayden's outfit, as well as a few other holiday red dresses that I am eyeing!

#CYBER MONDAY starts with STATEMENT JEWELRY

So many reasons to smile! I'll never get over this guy!! I'll also never get over you guys...I'm really loving getting to come here and read your comments and chat. I'm THANKFUL for you all.  The weekend was packed with Huck and Hayden and today is equally as busy with work and errands, but I thought I'd share a few things.... I'll be back on here tonight. Hope you all have wonderful Mondays...and happy cyber shopping if you are. I'm off to an audition and to get a hospital grade pump (never thought I'd put both of those in the same sentence!!). More on that later....

A LITTLE CYBER MONDAY UPDATE. THE NECKLACE in photo above  (AND EVERY OTHER PIECE OF JEWELRY at BAUBLEBAR is 35% off of 2 items).  And the comfy sweater I'm wearing is $20. I'm wearing an xs. It runs BIG!! Both have free shipping!! Keep scrolling down for updates on Friday's post.

Happy Early Thanksgiving. 40% OFF TODAY. AND FREE SHIPPING!

I love coming here to jot down thoughts and share ideas, but somewhere along the lines, I started "blogging" about clothing and style. I don't consider myself a "style blogger," but rather a sharer of information.  And today, I have info! JCREW is offering 40%. Use code Holiday at checkout. Perfect holiday shopping before things sell out over the Thanksgiving day weekend, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, etc.

This picture was taken a year ago. I was pregnant with Hayden. What a difference a year makes! Or doesn't make, in the case of this photo. This blazer and turtleneck are still staples and are available as part of the sale today. Such great basics. I've sifted through a bit and linked the pieces I ordered for gifts (and maybe myself!). I'm adding socks for Joel in my cart to throw in his stocking!

Is oxblood the new black? From Mom-friendly to slightly edgy!

It rained here in LA yesterday. If you follow anyone from this area on social media, we were all talking about it because, well, it's rare. I love it! Rain gives me an excuse to stay in, snuggle with the baby, cook for my husband (this, I'm proud to say, is becoming less rare), clean the house, write some blog posts (quickly while the baby sleeps), etc. I'm grateful I just wrote that sentence because I was feeling very lazy and non-productive, but that makes me feel like I accomplished a few things over the weekend.

Today is glorious outside. Crisp and clear. Perfect weather for layering with a quilted bomber jacket.  And one in the color oxblood, too. Evidently, oxblood is the new black. The color adds an element of rock and roll, a little edge. I like having an alternative to the usual basic black. I'm wanting to show pieces that you can incorporate with items you already own; an oxblood quilted jacket is a good start.

You most likely already have leggings or jeans, so adding a bomber jacket could be the new addition.  If you don't have your "go-to" leggings yet, may I suggest THESE for under $30. (Read a post about them HERE. And thanks to those that commented on loving them after they received theirs in the mail!!) I like this jacket because it's NOT my typical brown or black or denim. But, the color is still a great neutral. Who would have thought? Oxblood!? And look how easy it is to take a dressier look down a notch.  How great is it over this dress below? Just enough cool without trying too hard.

AshleyAJones.com

In a previous post, I talked about unexpected elements that add interest to an outfit. Whether it's sparkles dangling from the ears or an open back light sweater, it's fun to add the layers on top of staple pieces. And I'm writing up the holiday guide later, but this scarf I'm wearing in the picture below is on the top of my list for girlfriends, my sister, mom, etc. It's $25 and I could not be happier with it. Love all the color choices, too.

I kept my outfit pretty "mom friendly" today for an audition and meetings, but it wouldn't be hard to create an edgier look. Add THESE booties with distressed denim and a great tee like this one in white for under $20?? And while doing a little surfing for this post, I got caught up in this whole trend and bought this lip!  Well, another day, I'll be the edgier mom!

Heading out now... Happy Monday. xo

Nov. 20th

I'm adding an addendum to this post. I tried to put those little pants on Hayden today and he has already outgrown them. I look at these pictures (perhaps it's the cloudy day and rain) and I get a little nostalgic. He's not even 6 months yet! I used to secretly chuckle at women that cried when their kid went to pre-school for the first time... but here I am already getting choked up that he's almost 6 months. I just posted an instagram story pic of him sitting next to me while I'm working. He seems so big in his big boy chair. I guess this is a reminder to take it all in everyday. I'm grateful to have such great friends going through a similar journey, too. Hope you all had a great weekend. xo

Nov. 18th

I've been meaning to jot down some thoughts about the RedCARpet Safety event for a while now. I have a little creature that doesn't love sleep (help!) and keeps me very busy. This was one of Hayden's first "events."  He was mesmerized! Too much to see to focus on any one thing. Quite a different experience going to an event with a 3 month old (this was back in September). I barely slept the night before and felt like I was sleep walking. But, we had a good time. It was fun running into so many other friends and their babies. It was such a hot Los Angeles day! Glad I wore layers over the t-shirt (my living the dream shirt!). Take a look!

oh and ps- We missed having my stepson, Huck, with us. We picked up some goodies for him, though. He loves his Joovy Bicycoo

Allergic to Mornings?

Oh My, oh my. Only two years ago, weekends were for lounging and sleeping in...Amazing how much has changed! This morning, I woke up to my 4-year-old stepson, Huck, staring over me. When I got startled, Huck woke the baby (finally sleeping soundly in the Halo next to us after a slightly restless night) and then the dog started stirring. Basically, there was no going back. It was time to get up. And OH MY GOODNESS. WE ARE OUT OF COFFEE. Anyone else familiar with this scenario?

I happen to know a few people going through it right now, so I think this Peanuts, snoopy shirt is hilarious. (I ordered a few for holiday gifts). Everyone seems to be discussing allergies, too. Introducing solids to the babies, weather changing and inducing allergies, etc. Well, I figured out my allergy! Ha. Mornings!! Anyone that knows me, knows how much I love sleep. I just don't have that luxury during this phase of life.

This t-shirt is also super cute over a long sleeve tee in any color. THIS ONE is only $25. I love the option with stripes. I've been wearing the snoopy tee around the house this morning with my Olian Maternity pj bottoms and robe.  I got these "house clothes" to wear in the hospital when I had the baby and then to wear around visitors at home. The top works well for nursing. They're so pretty and soft, they make me happy! Read my  post about my hospital bag clothes HERE. What a great gift for anyone, but works so well if you have a friend that's a new mom or pregnant!  Inevitably, this time of year, family will be visiting and/or we'll be traveling visiting them; I love having appropriate lounging clothes! It's also one of my favorite gifts to give. I linked some other, budget friendly options below.

Thanks for stopping by today! My team and I are gearing up for some fun posts, so stay tuned. I'm off to get the family ready for Sunday school. What are y'all up to today?

OPEN BACK SHIRTS AND OVERSIZED SCARVES...great gift ideas!

If you've been following my blog lately, you'd know how much I love pieces with a surprise element. For instance, this comfy, long sleeve tee has the open back that adds interest and something unique, but feels modest enough to still be classy. For $35, it makes a great gift, too.  It's also longer in the back so I feel comfortable wearing my go-to leggings (which are actually called GO-TO leggings! I'm not the only one that relies on them- read the reviews HERE!).  I'm also wearing one of the items that I'm adding to my holiday gift guide. THIS SCARF is SOOOO soft and scrumptious. It comes in several colors & patterns and makes an awesome gift (no one would guess it's only $25). For nursing moms, there's nothing better than having a scarf nearby if need be.

For a little bit of bling, I added these blush colored earrings from BaublebarThe clutch (only $25) has been another staple of mine lately (See post HERE); there's a fun leopard print lining inside, too. I'm working on the holiday gift guide, so stay tuned! And, I added some of my favorite, affordable scarves below- so happy shopping, and happy Saturday!

Winter is coming. Chunky sweaters a must.

OH MONDAY, monday!  Here you are again. Hayden is going through a phase where he doesn't sleep for more than 2-4 hours at a time at night. So, we are tired. At least we can be comfy! Chunky, slightly oversized sweaters are my favorite must-haves for winter time. They are cozy and easy and can be layered. As soon as it hits 60 degrees or so here in LA, I pull them out. I realize that's not winter to many of you, but you can always add a coat. Not only do I love the cowl neckline and softness of the material of this one (which is nice cuddling Hayden), but I really like the price. Good basic pieces shouldn't have to break the bank! This one is only $49. I'm wearing an XS, but for a more "boyfriend" or oversized look, I could go up a size. It comes in 4 colors. How great is the dark grey version?

I'm still layering a plaid flannel underneath (like I did in this post HERE, and also HERE).  I found a tassel necklace (that I love more) like the one I'm wearing at baublebar.com.  (HERE is one other option, too). I've had my boots for a while, but I found a similar pair for a decent price! I think this sweater would be perfect to pair with a pencil skirt or pants, too. A great work look!

If you're starting to figure out gift ideas, this sweater is a good one for the sister/friend or mom list!

When you find a good (affordable!) thing...stick with it!

Earlier this week I wore this exact outfit, except the sweater was white- click here to see. When you find a good thing, I say stick with it. Especially when it is so affordable. At only $39, so I got it in white and green, too (it comes in 5 colors)! I love all how the black adds a touch of sophistication. The necklace adds interest and a bit more flair. It's comfy and layered so I can easily take the sweater off if I get too hot today. This is a perfect outfit for Thanksgiving dinner at home with the family, specially if you're traveling! You could always pair the sweater with some shorts on a warmer day, or add a peacoat (I love THIS ONE on sale right now) on a colder day! And, of course the necklace can go from day to night. Happy Friday!

I feel the need to add that Hayden was just sitting up in the 4moms bassinet stroller for the picture-- not while we were moving. Safety always first;)

SIMPLICITY "wraps" up the day (with a drop of bliss- read more!)

Happy hump day! I love the simplicity of this dress, not to mention the functionality (and the PRICE- it's under $55). It easily shifts from work to dinner or business attire cocktails. We're entering that season of going straight from work to holiday cocktails or parties. I can wear booties or throw on some heels for a dressier look. I actually have on a black sweater wrap, too (not pictured, I guess that part is obvious), which ties in the booties.

For the holidays, the dress comes in a pastel and a brilliant red color.  It's funny how you change the color and it completely changes the feel of the outfit! And for more of a night out feel, there is a shorter version, also (and check HERE for more sizes). This is a classic wrap dress, which works really well for my post baby body. The wrap dress gives the illusion that I have more of a waist than I actually do at this point. And I add a little extra help, too! (read: spanx!) For the purposes of my meeting today, I'm keeping a more business attire theme and embracing the simplicity of the dress. I wanted to keep the makeup fresh and the jewelry to a minimum. However, I added some flair with these bliss drop earrings (that I end up wearing all the time). They make a statement without being over-the-top. Plus, they're only $20!! How can you go wrong?

ps- a side note to breastfeeding/nursing moms out there.... wrap dresses are genius (more options here, too) . and PPS- I know sizes are selling out quickly, but I was told new shipments are coming in, so check back if your size isn't there! and finally--- MOMS wanting to share ideas, please do! Check out the latest post!

Finding the best deals for you today! $39! Happy Monday!

Hi everyone! Busy day today. Learning lines, running to a meeting and audition, running back home to nurse, errands, etc. But, had to share the deal I discovered and received in the mail this weekend. A cozy sweater for only $39? Yes, please. I love being able to put together looks without spending a ton. I'm wearing a size small. When I find something that works for me and my lifestyle, I also get it in other colors, so you'll see me wearing this sweater in black-shown below- and green. Ha! I actually got this plaid, soft flannel to go under it, adding a bit of a collegiate feel. And LOVE adding interest and a modern flare with THIS NECKLACE. (The necklace I'll be wearing with a variety of outfits. Such a fun piece for the holidays. The soft pastel color palette balances the sparkle, so it's not too blingy). The black faux leather and suede clutch is $25! Love these deals.

It's finally raining a bit in LA, so I'm wearing rainboots! This is an exciting experience for us in Southern California because it's rare. Carrying around Hayden so much, I'm all bout the flats, too! I'm just about to wear out my flat boots! Speaking of rainboots--- how adorable are the ones below? The dogs!? It might be a purchase I need to make!

PS- use the "search" box up in the top right to search "nursing" or "breastfeeding" to find better options for NURSING MOMS. ps- check back in later tonight. I'll be here blogging about the past week, Hayden's 5 month birthday (!!), appearance on Dr. Oz, answering questions, etc. THANKS for all of you that commented and watched and supported!
